Setting up from scratch
When we set you up as a user you will receive an email from server@serifwebresources.com - don't delete it. This email will invite you to access your Ballroom Experience account and should read:
' You've been invited to access Ballroom Experience. To allow this, the web site administrator has created an account for you. Your username is (your email address) and your password is XXXX.
Please click the link below to activate your account.'
Once you click on the link you should receive an email message saying:
'Activation successful you can now access your account'
Once Activated
Once you have done that go on to the Ballroom Experience homepage and click on Dancers Area. That page contains a list of current classes, click on your class and you will be asked for a user name and password. Your username is your email address and your password will have been provided in the email from Serif, the passwords are automatically generated.
Once you enter your user name and password you will be directed to your class site which contains a list of all the steps taught in that class along with step descriptions and videos.
Note that the viewing window contains a scroll bar for scrolling up and down. When trying to scroll through your class pages make sure you use the scroll bar on the page. If you use the wheel of your mouse to navigate you will not see the full page.
Click on the video icon to see a clip of the relevant step (some have more than one - different angles and different speeds)
Not received or lost/deleted the activation email
Let us know, and we will re-send.
Having trouble viewing ?
The videos are shot in MPG4 format, which is not supported by versions of Windows Media Player attached to any version of Windows prior to Windows 7 - eg XP or Vista. The solution is to install Apple's Quicktime player - it is a free download at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Dancers Area FAQ's
I have activated my account but haven't got a password?
It may have been caught in your spam filter. If not, let us know and we will sort for you.
Some of the links to the dance steps don't work?
We have done our best to check all the links but there may still be a few gremlins, if you spot a missing or broken link let us know and we will fix it.
Not all the dance steps taught in my class have links and/or videos?
This area of the web site is a work in progress and may at any given time be a little behind the class. We’re doing our best to catch this up.
Please can I have access to steps taught in other classes?
The short answer this one is no, sorry. The step descriptions and videos are intended to be an aid to attending classes not a substitute for attending or a resource for self teaching
My broadband connection is slow and unreliable, is it possible to get the videos on DVD?
This is in the pipeline.
When I scroll down on some of the pages I cannot see the video links?
When navigating on the dancers pages make sure you use the scroll bar on the page rather than the wheel of your mouse. The video icons float on the pages and if you use your mouse wheel to navigate you may lose the video links.
