Legal and Regulatory Matters
The majority of the above falls to us (ie Adrian and Debbie) to deal with. However, there are some matters which you as Instructors need to be aware of and follow of your own volition:-
Discrimination policy - It is our policy to treat all members of the public in an open, transparent and discriminatory fashion, regardless of their gender, disability, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation etc, and it is an express term of Instructing with us that you follow this policy.
That said, there will be times where aspects of the above may create problems in integration of an individual into a class - in such cases please refer the situation to Adrian who will take responsibility for dealing with it therefrom.
Child Protection - only Instructors who are CRB checked with us are allowed to teach children - the intention is that this will cover Adrian & Debbie and Wendy & Adrian only. For all others, if a person turns up for an adult class who you have reason to believe is under 18 they should, unfortunate as it may seem, be refused admission to it and the incident referred to Adrian at the earliest opportunity.
Health and Safety - Before commencing a class, please walk the floor and make sure there are no obstacles or hazards (eg marbles or broken glass) left behind by previous users. Where such hazards exist, please either deal with them or cordon the area off. Ensure that the emergency exits are unobstructed (both inside and out) and operative. Check that the toilets are working.
As the class happens, be aware of hazards as they arise (eg a glass breaking) and deal with them appropriately, which may include suspension of the class.
In the event of an evacuation, be aware of where the assembly point is, take charge of the situation and account for everyone present by the use of the register.
We maintain an accident book centrally, in the event of any incident occuring involving injury during a class please notify of (a) the date, (b) who it was, (c) what happened and (d) if known, the consequence.
Music Licensing - We hold a PPL Licence under reference 254573 for the public performance of music. This expires in July 2011, and we maintain numbers to make sure that we do not breach our licensed annual attendance.
It is the responsibility of each venue to maintain PRS licences, and no obligation falls on us with regard to this.
The music transferred to your individual IPODs on delivery to you are covered by a global licence that we have from Ross Mitchell, whose company owns the copyright to all tracks transferred to them. We own original copies of all of the CDs transferred.
Data Protection - we are registered data users with the Information Commissioners Office under the Data Protection Act under reference Z2330238, register entry expiring 4-8-2011
If you use your own PCs for the storage of any pupil information please ensure that (a) the data is copied to us, and (b) that there is sensible security procedures adopted on your PC, including firewall, antivirus and password protection.
Insurance - we hold public liability insurance and employers liability insurance, both to £5m with Allianz, policy number 32/SZ/13816695/10, expiring 1/9/2011. The certificate is available for inspection at our registered office (Talpa Hall).
Company Information - registered number 06471750, registered office Talpa Hall, Old Newton, Stowmarket IP14 4HQ
